Bourbon Smash Cocktail
I was first introduced to a Bourbon Smash by a close friend at a local restaurant in Northern Virginia. It’s a refreshing drink, something to enjoy when the weather is nice. I had to figure out how to make it myself at home. I couldn’t justify paying nearly $12 per drink out.
Below is my copycat recipe that I’ve created myself. I don’t measure well when making cocktails (I’m a very generous bartender), so the measurements will not be in your standard measurements.
Ingredients:
Bourbon (we usually use Evan Williams)
Simply Lemonade
Fresh mint
Cocktail shaker and muddler
Instructions:
Grab your cocktail shaker and pinch off several fresh mint leaves
Add a tiny bit of the Simply Lemonade and muddle the fresh mint leave until they start to break down
Grab a craft ice cube and put it in a glass. Add your desired amount of bourbon (I usually count to 5 slowly)
Add more Simply Lemonade to the cocktail mixer. Put the top on and shake it up.
Pour the lemonade/mint mixture into a glass that contains the bourbon.
Stir with a spoon and enjoy!
