Grilled Chicken Wings
National Chicken Wing Day for 2022 was on Friday, July 29th. We love making grilled chicken wings at home. I actually buy the wings uncut, so that I can butcher them myself. I find that you get bigger more meaty wings by doing it this way, and it’s honestly quite easy to do it yourself. I’ve been making them this way for about 5 years now. I learned how to cut the wings myself by watching a YouTube video. It does add some time to the prep, but once you get the hang of it, it really doesn’t take very long. It actually can save you money too to buy the wings whole and uncut.
After the wings are cut, I apply some EVOO and a spice mixture. I use Tony’s Creole seasoning, Old Bay, and Jack Daniels Chicken Rub. I apply this liberally and let it rest in the fridge until it’s time to cook. Once we’re ready to begin cooking, I will add some Frank’s Hot Sauce to the wings before they go on the grill. It takes about 20-25 minutes to grill all the wings. I like mine with a little char on the outside because I think it adds a little smokey flavor and a subtle crunch when you bite in.
